Congratulations! How exciting for Samuel! May the Baby and the Mama and the Family all grow sweetly in God's good grace. Thank you, Sarah, for the good hearty words and the prayer is precious - I feel it deeply.
Sarah, loved your comments about the weather in British conversation. Indeed, how much of it is a reflection of more than just an easy topic for small talk. I'm inclined to imagine much more involved when I consider how some brits can be sensitive to comments about the weather by outsiders. There's something personal about the weather, as if it is some personal relation, whom they are quick to defend even though they speak of it appallingly! Makes me think of the pride and even spiritiual signification with those cloudy hills in Blake's "Jersalem". I suspect someone has written something about this in one of those British culture books. Will have to snoop around a bit for it. So happy to hear good news about you all. Further up and further in, what? :-) Abounding blessings.
Congratulations to you and sweet Samuel! We have a good mix of boys and girls; though this little nugget threw us a bit. By our pattern she was meant to be a boy; it took a while to settle on a girl's name. Prayers for you and your family!
Congratulations, Sarah!! I remember when my brother found out my mom was finally pregnant with another boy after a long string of girls. He was so excited 😂
Sarah I am so glad you loved Hercules Beale. I too was skeptical when I was told read it but I loved it so much. Have you read Gary Schmidt's other books starting with 'The Wednesday Wars'? Oh my word, they are just as good. And if you get chance to read them, they are all linked subtly and I found that to be very powerful and emotional. Congratulations on your wonderful pregnancy news, how lovely for Samuel, and for you all. May be it be a blessed and cosy time.
This is beautiful, Sarah.

Two great reads for young and old:
The Man Who Planted Trees by Jean Giono
An Episode of Sparrows by Rumer Godden
It’s so lovely to hear all these reflections. May you continue to pursue your vocation amidst the weather, the children, the noise!!

Thanks for sharing, Sarah.
Indeed, how powerful would the effect be if every home sought to be faithful in their unique calling...?
