I deeply loved This Beautiful Truth when it first came out but I am due for its reminder; I think a reread is in order! I have lots of Buechner on my TBR too.....

Thank you for this. Beautiful. I have The Beautiful Truth also and yes, time for a re-reading!

This is so beautiful. I've encountered Buechner in snippets and excerpts but never read him in full. Do you have a recommendation where to begin?

I think The Sacred Journey is a good place to begin - it really gets to the heart of his own sorrow and how he thinks about grief and grace. Telling the Truth is excellent. And I love his more literary study Speak What We Feel (Not What We Ought to Say).

Dear Sarah, your incisive and delightful ability to wrap words around elusive concepts and truths deeply blesses me..... This Beautiful Truth was an in-depth introduction to a soul and mind shaped in the crucible of sorrow with ability to "get round to the front" in our broken, mysterious, BEAUTIFUL world. Thank you, dear heart, dear wife, mother, lover of books and people.... keep on keeping on, just as you do.... I'm a cheerleader in your journey!

I've read "This Beautiful Truth" multiple times, and it's one of my absolute favorite books, so I loved a further glimpse into the writing of it. Babies are such a beautiful redemption of so many things. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you so much for this essay Sarah. Very timely for me after sudden emergency surgery this weekend and now a slow recovery. I bought the book To Tell the Truth a while ago at your suggestion. Think it is time to pick it up. Your writing is such an encouragement to me. I am so very thankful for you!

Oh Valerie, I hope you recover quickly. I'm so sorry. Those things are so stressful. I hope Tell the Truth is a little bit of comfort. Bless you!
